About Us

Kids in Preschool

Our Mission is to provide a safe and fun environment in which your child will flourish spiritually, intellectually, emotionally and socially.

Mother Teresa Co-operative Preschool is a parent-run cooperative school established to meet the needs of preschool age children in the Silverspring and surrounding communities.

Eligibility

Children must be three years of age by October 31, 2024 or four years of age by January 31, 2025.  Children should be able to use the toilet and be mostly free from accidents.  We also encourage parents to have their children's immunizations up to date.

Enrollment

For the 2023/2024 school year, class size will be limited to 15 students per session. Classes are filled on a first come, first served basis.  Waiting lists will be maintained throughout the year.  The Board of Directors reserves the right to cancel any session.

Children’s Safety

Your child’s safety is of prime importance to us.  You are responsible for your child’s safe conduct to and from school.  Your child must not arrive more than 10 minutes prior to class and must be picked up immediately after class.  Students will be released only to individuals authorized by parents in writing.

Parent Helper

As we are a co-operative preschool, all parents are required to help in the classroom on a rotating basis.  In general, parents will help out in the classroom once every month.

Your Room Parent will provide a monthly schedule indicating your Parent Helper day for that month (usually by email).

The Parent Helper is responsible for arranging a replacement if he/she cannot attend on the scheduled day; by trading with another parent in your session; or by having a friend or family member take your place.

Parent helpers may not bring other children to school with them.

Withdrawal

One full month’s written/emailed notice must be dated and given on or before the first of the month for the withdrawal of a child from the preschool. The Preschool Board reserves the right to request a child’s withdrawal. Non-payment of fees and failure to work scheduled days may be grounds for withdrawal.
